Mount Pleasant has been designated as a lighthouse congregation, spreading Jesus’ light to those in need of prayer or encouragement. Mount Pleasant is located in rural Dekalb County outside of Butler. Traditional worship takes place Sundays at 10:00 a.m., preceded by Bible study for all ages at 9:00 a.m. We strive to impact our community and encourage connection to Jesus Christ. We are known in our community for our prayer ministry that embraces our entire community and incorporates the laying on of hands (for those who are comfortable with touch). We value each person coming into our church for prayer and restoration. We utilize a community prayer box located in our portico. We pray our church serves as a lighthouse for all in need of prayer and encouragement.

Our Stained Glass Windows
Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church was established in 1854 as a house church with 7 members. The church met at the home of Abraham Eakright until 1861, when the church began meeting in a log schoolhouse. Land was granted to the church in 1869 by Philip Ginder, and a wooden church structure was built. The church met at the schoolhouse until 1870 when the first church structure was completed. This church was in the northern Ohio conference of the United Brethren. This church served persons in Butler, persons east of Auburn to Hicksville and North into Angola.
